about
I am a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, ceramics, and abstract painting. My background is in industrial design — I earned my degree from the University of Kansas, where I was first introduced to the language of form, function, and material. It was during my design studies that I began to drift into the arts. The art history courses I took sparked something in me, and I started painting — not to illustrate, but to explore. Abstract painting became a way to respond intuitively and to experiment without the constraints of product or utility.
That exploration led me to ceramics, which I took as an elective and quickly connected with. The immediacy of clay — the way it records every touch — pulled me in. I began loading up on art electives in sculpture and painting, gradually shifting my focus from design to expression. After graduating, I moved to Oregon in 2019, where I continued my ceramic practice and immersed myself in the region’s creative energy.
I started working in a steel fabrication shop, and that’s where sculpture took root. Working with steel introduced a new scale, a new weight, and a new kind of dialogue with space. Over time, sculpture became central to my practice — a place where structure and spirit collide. Now, as a full-time artist, I work across all three mediums. Each brings something distinct: painting is intuitive and energetic; ceramics is tactile and grounded; sculpture is monumental and architectural.
Today, I live and work in Oregon, where I take on commissions and continue to evolve my practice. I'm currently revisiting painting with a fresh perspective — reconnecting with where it all started, but with more time, more experience, and a clearer sense of voice.
